Irish Faith Healing?

Valentine Greatrakes was an Irish faith healer (1628-1682) who believed that he had the power to cure disease by the laying on of hands. His earliest cases involved trying to heal scrofula, a rather nasty skin condition known as the King’s Evil. He would later apply his method to other conditions and gained widespread fame in Ireland and Britain as "the Stroker" due to the passes he would make over the patient's body.
Greatrakes believed that the cures were the result of him driving out the evil spirits that caused disease. His healing track record was apparently hit or miss and he elicited considerable skepticism as would Austrian physician Anton Mesmer a century later with his similar practices of 'animal magnetism' or Mesmerism. In modern times the cures of Greatrakes and Mesmer would be attributed to the placebo effect that is predicated upon belief and positive expectation-which while it has it's limitations can be quite powerful. Modern hypnosis draws heavily upon these elements of belief and expectation as well. Slainte!
P.S. P.S. If stress makes your medical condition worse, hypnosis can be a useful adjunct to your standard medical care. Call/text (732) 714-7040 to set up a time to talk or fill out the Life Enhancement Strategy Form and I will get back to you ASAP.
